Xena Ibara joined our Arts Academy not long after a family tragedy that changed her life and made it difficult for her focus in school. Xena found solace in expressing her feelings through art. She found the fine arts program very therapeutic.
“You express something on paper or canvas and it really helps because you can’t just bottle it up,” she explains.
Now a senior at Phineas Banning High School, Xena has developed her talent for drawing and painting for three years in the Arts Academy. She plans to continue studying fine arts at a university after she graduates.
“Looking at what you create…it’s beautiful to me. I just love it.”
